Welcome to a new kind of salon. There are now more freelancers in hair than ever, up to seventy percent now work for themselves. So we launched a new salon concept in Soho - one made for independent hairdressing. This is the story of the cowork salon.
Freelance stylists Ross & Jack Williams-Hirst restyled the way salons work. Together we created a cowork salon and hardworking brand, inspired by hair’s lone wolves.
From freelance to independent, we changed the language and repositioned solo stylists as the skilful future of hair.
Collaborating with Niche Projects, we designed a salon & retail experience centred on the work and skill of independents.
We invented our own departments like the ‘Drinks Department’ and the ‘Dept. of Dye’. Like a cowork office, but with more blowdries.
The launch campaign helped hair stylists, hair brands and hair heads understand how it works.
To spread our launch news, we sent editors and hair brands our own promo newspaper titled ‘The Hair Independent’.
For the launch party, we welcomed editors, music artists and hair brands. Guests were served with a signature drinks menu and bags of independent spirit.
The award-winning salon is now open in Soho and changing the way the hair industry works.
